The Folkestone Art Society Spring Exhibition opens on Wednesday 19th May, showcasing a selection of fine artworks created by its members, at The Grand on The Leas, Folkestone CT20 2XL.

The exhibition opening times are 10am to 6pm each day until May 31st. The Spring Exhibition usually has approximately 250 paintings and works of art on view and the majority of the work is for sale. The exhibition is rightly considered an important event in the arts calendar of the south-east and our previous exhibitions have drawn praise for the high standard of work exhibited.

Visitors are asked to vote for their favourite work of art and prizes, supported by our Patron Robert Benson, will be presented to the winning artists.

Introduced at our Spring Exhibition in 2006 was a separate competition for paintings or drawings which was generously supported by our Patron Michael Stainer of The Grand. This was so successful that there is to be a new ‘Grand Competition’ for members. The theme for this Spring’s competition is to be ‘With Flying Colours’. The competition will be on show in the Palm Court Restaurant.

Discovered a lovely article in Aspect County magazine about the East Sussex Contemporary Art Fair. Aspect County magazine is a gorgeous luxury A4 glossy lifestyle magazine for the South East.

A big thanks to the organisers, the talented artists exhibiting, and so many visitors who made it such a super weekend in Rye!
